She has completed her fellowship in cataract and refractive surgery and is currently working as a consultant in Wavikar eye institute-Thane,India as cataract and refractive surgeon. Evaluating patient’s astigmatic error isn’t just about the shape of the front of the eye anymore. Failure to include posterior corneal curvature in the presurgical cataract calculations can bring unwanted refractive surprises for both patient and surgeon. There’s a fair amount of astigmatism on the posterior surface of the cornea. \r\nUsing an intraocular lens in which the lens calculation for toricity is based on the anterior cornea alone will lead to an overcorrection in eyes that have with-the-rule astigmatism and under correction in eyes with against-the-rule astigmatism.
